Family Trip to City Island

We have not been shy about taking Maya with us wherever we want to go, and here’s an example. Grace really wanted to go to the beach, and we were also hungry for lunch, so we decided to go to a spot that even some locals don’t know about. It’s called City Island, and it’s just off the eastern coast of the Bronx, connected by a small bridge. Kevin had never even been there before, though his grandmother probably did because she used to go to nearby Orchard Beach when she was young.

On City Island, we found a little community not unlike some we’ve seen in New England or on Long Island. There were a ton of seafood restaurants. We decided to go to one at the far end of City Island called Tony’s Pier.

And yes, we brought our baby with us! Even though she couldn’t eat the fish herself, it was good to get out of the house and get some fresh sea air and hear the birds. It was such a nice trip that she fell asleep before we could even get to the beach, so we just went home instead.

Grace mentioned in the video that it’s not common for Kenyans to use car seats, while in most of America there are strict laws about putting kids in car seats. What do you think? Are car seats necessary or could we get by without them? Let us know by leaving a comment. And as always, thanks for watching!
